How often do you look back at your smaller wins? daily, weekly, monthly?
The problem many of us have is we don’t do it enough. All we see is the end goal in front of us which we get completely tunnel visioned into. We relentlessly work towards this and rarely allow ourselves to look back and say “ah I’ve actually done that“; ticking off the small win.
At beginning of the journey, the results of the small wins seem minuscule, but that’s what builds momentum (compound effect). In this post, I will share one of the ways I keep visibility of my wins and a milestone(big win) I’m celebrating at the moment.
1. What can I do to track tasks and small wins?
Personally, I’ve found an app called Todoist the best for checking smaller wins off. It’s particularly helpful when I have things to revisit at a later date or reminders to do stuff (e.g. download website backups on x date). You can also make categories, so a category like blogging could have daily, monthly or yearly tasks within it.
I also use it with my friends and family as well. When they tell me about a goal I usually dig down a level and ask them for dates. I put this into Todoist, go about whatever else I was doing and try to follow-up around the date they mentioned to me. Not everyone likes this approach at first, but they usually thank me in the end.
Why not give it try for yourself for a week or two and see how it goes? It will really help to clear the fog and take things off your head:
2. What is the milestone??
The driver of this post was me looking at the inpsirEnrich post count and noticing the 5-0 mark was fast approaching(don’t know what I’ll do at 100).The key thing which I won’t downplay getting here is the support of my family and friends. Even at this early stage, they listen to my skeleton ideas from time to time and provide feedback(which I don’t always listen ha). Two of my friends have also contributed with three excellent posts which you can read below:
- 5 Personal Development books which can improve your Life
- How “Rich Dad Poor Dad” is helping me excel in life
- AI and The Stanford Ignite Experience, Jas Sidhu
So to wrap this post up, thanks to everyone who continues to support the platform and the content!
