Why inspirEnrich had to change

Why inspirEnrich had to change

December 23rd 2016, the date I posted up my review of Stefflon Don –  Real Ting Mixtape and also decided it was time for a change with the InspirEnrich platform. This was quite a lengthy process so I’ve tried to make it as succinct as possible for better(less boring) reading!

Step One

This change initially started with the brand logo. When I asked people how the old logo made them think or feel. The first and main feedback I received was “ideas”. Ideas, what does that even mean? I think deep down when the logo was created for me I didn’t fully like it, but I just put it to one side as something I would like into on my “downtime” as it was never important enough.

Although, the 23rd December 2016 was different, as soon as I was done with the post I dived straight into just noting the things I liked with the current logo and the things I didn’t like. After a day or two of thinking(yes this includes Christmas day!) I was able to consolidate these ideas and send it to a Graphics Designer I’d regularly used before. This represented step one of the change.

Step Two

Why inspirEnrich had to changeThe second aspect was my website. Firstly, I felt it was too rigid in terms of categories (Music, Videos, Events and Books) and secondly, some people had no idea the website was about.

I’d regularly receive feedback like “your website looks nice, is it a music blog?” or “why do you have so many music reviews?” They were valid bits of feedback and to date, Music is the category where I have the most content. I’d always found music reviews especially for artists I listen to pretty much daily the easiest to write.

Again, I didn’t like the idea of putting such a small box around what inspirEnrich was topic wise. Therefore the process was much the same as before, take a few days (or weeks!) auditing the site analyse some competitors and feedback to the developer what I wanted the site to look like.

The Outcome

Both the creation of the logo and the revamping of the website took considerable time to complete (around 2 months). The website itself was only just completed to how I wanted it yesterday (11.02.2017). In the grand scheme of things that’s all irrelevant now. Why? Because without this commitment to the change the platform would not have been in the best place resonate with you.

One of the main changes I knew had to be done was the creation of a contribution page. I’ve realised I would like to enable other creative’s. So if you have a burning desire to write something and want to become part of the inspirEnrich family head over to the contribution page and see if it’s of interest to you!
